This past July, we celebrated our one year wedding anniversary! In an effort to relive our “exotic” travel-themed wedding week + our “exotic” honeymoon (in Mauritius and South Africa, details to come!) we turned to our foodie friends for an “exotic” dinner recommendation. Our only requisites: distinct flavors and a unique atmosphere! There was a resounding vote for TANTA, one of Chicago’s few authentically Peruvian restaurants. Here are our thoughts:
TANTA
REAL TALK: We made reservations for the rooftop, which was the perfect decision for a Chicago summer dinner. The wonderful weather was only to be surpassed by the impeccable service of the Tanta staff. We were assisted through the menu and were given delicious recommendations from the house. You can’t go wrong with any of the seafood options – especially the Cebiches! Chef Gaston Acurio’s menu took us on a journey from the mountains to the ocean, paying homage to all the elements of Earth. The flavor combinations at Tanta are unlike any other we’ve experienced before!
WHAT TO ORDER: Any One (or Two or Three) of the Cebiches / Carne de Res Empanada / Lomo Saltado / Request a delicious mocktail if you’re like us and don’t drink or just need a break from alcohol for a night
OCCASION: Date Night / GNO / Sunday Brunch
RATING: 4/5 Love Affair
